I bought this bag for a canoe/kayak trip with my friends on the lake to do some primitive camping. Where after on shore we didn't have to go very far with our stuff. The 40L bag was big enough for all my camping stuff, plus a change of clothes, and shoes. The handles on the the bag feel good and sturdy. I was happy that they included the strap for the bag that anchor at the top and bottom of the bag, it makes it handy carrying it around short to medium distances. The material on the bag itself feels good and thick. I was worried about puncturing it with a knife or a aluminum stake I had for camping but it held up just fine. All my gear kept dry despite going into the water at shore, I did not submerge the bag as I did not want to tempt fate with some of my more expensive stuff in there, still I felt confident it would have been fine for a short dunk under water. I did feel like the plastic buckle at the top was a little weak, and although I was tempted to grab the bag by it repeatedly I had to kind of will myself to use the carry handle.I would definitely evaluate the size of bag you need before purchasing. The 40L bag I got because I needed something to hold my: Hammock, tarp, ground stakes, cordage, knives, food, canteens, bug spray, fire starting materials, snacks, shirt/pants/shoes/socks, poncho, camera, and some other goodies. Sorry for the laundry list but this bag really does hold a great bit of stuff. Keep in mind the bag only rolls down so far, so if you do not have a lot of items to place into the bag then go smaller. Also, the dimensions of this are large so you need to have a good place to put it.
