I bought this bag for a canoe/kayak trip with my friends on the lake to do some primitive camping. Where after on shore we didn't have to go very far with our stuff. The 40L bag was big enough for all my camping stuff, plus a change of clothes, and shoes. The handles on the the bag feel good and sturdy. I was happy that they included the strap for the bag that anchor at the top and bottom of the bag, it makes it handy carrying it around short to medium distances. The material on the bag itself feels good and thick. I was worried about puncturing it with a knife or a aluminum stake I had for camping but it held up just fine. All my gear kept dry despite going into the water at shore, I did not submerge the bag as I did not want to tempt fate with some of my more expensive stuff in there, still I felt confident it would have been fine for a short dunk under water. I did feel like the plastic buckle at the top was a little weak, and although I was tempted to grab the bag by it repeatedly I had to kind of will myself to use the carry handle.I would definitely evaluate the size of bag you need before purchasing. The 40L bag I got because I needed something to hold my: Hammock, tarp, ground stakes, cordage, knives, food, canteens, bug spray, fire starting materials, snacks, shirt/pants/shoes/socks, poncho, camera, and some other goodies. Sorry for the laundry list but this bag really does hold a great bit of stuff. Keep in mind the bag only rolls down so far, so if you do not have a lot of items to place into the bag then go smaller. Also, the dimensions of this are large so you need to have a good place to put it.I purchased this for Hawaii trip so we can join kayaking tour. This was a great choice. I am so glad that I purchased this before the trip. This bag is great to have if you are going to a beach, do some marine sports, or motorcycle touring. The material is so durable that I don't have to worry about that you can throw it to the beach, rock, use it rough. If you are carrying minimum stuff like small towel, cell phones, keys, extra t-shirts, this is perfect size. If you want to carry additional beach towel in it, it will fit but it will be really tight. You might want to go one size up. This dry bag does not have any separation in side so to keep organize, you might want to get small organizer bag to keep your keys and phones organize. As a dry bag, this is awesome product and if I need another dry bag, I will definitely buy this brand of dry bag. I will highly recommend this bag!!I love this bag. I initially bought for a kayak trip and it was exactly what I needed. I use it for kayaking and paddle boarding and as a beach bag. So far, it seems really durable. I am not particularly easy on it - I over-pack it with a camera and a large underwater housing along with towels, sunscreen, etc. and it is holding up well. The handle and strap make it easy to carry. The removable strap can also be used to anchor it to a board or kayak. I haven't fully submerged it, but I have gotten it pretty wet (bottom of kayaks and canoes, on paddle board, incoming tide on the beach, rain, etc.) and I did not see any dampness in the bag when I opened it up.These bags are reliable, and that's a big deal when you're canoe camping on the river. These have been tested by spills on the river and everything inside stayed dry. Any bag will puncture when it hits the right rock, but this heavy duty material will probably take more abuse than most. The only reason I give it four stars is because of the price. These are a bit pricey. Marine Raider is an equivalent quality for the money, but are only available in 10,30,and 70 Liter sizes. When you need a 40 Liter, you need a 40 Liter. I have other Overboard products as well and they are all high grade quality. Hope this helps!I bought this dry bag for my trip to Puerto Rico. I was going on a booze and cruise boat which stopped at 12 feet in the water, and then you had to swim to the shore line. So one could imagine how handy this came in. I purchased the 40 quartz which came up to my hips(I'm 5'5). I was able to fit 2 beach towels and a bunch of other crap me and my cousins needed for the beach. No water got in the bag at all, AND it floated in the water on its own. I would definitely recommended this bag.We got this to use while on a cruise and going snokeling and beaching and to The Baths in Virgin Gorda to be able to take dry clothes, etc. It works wonderfully. It is, though,a little cumbersome in that it is stiff material but the shoulder strap does help with that a lot. You can wear it on your back with no problems. I would recommend it for dryness of items and this size is good for extra clothes for 2, water shoes, coolie cups and hats.....I have yet to find a need for this. I expected this to be smaller.I'm sure it's great for packing a large amount of gear in.It's constructed well. The material is VERY rigid (which I don't like).I bought this for light use packing a towel, small snacks, and shorts. Way too much room for this amount of items. I should have gone with a 10-liter but it's very difficult to tell sizes.I would recommend this to someone as long as they are better at gauging size than I am.I purchased a 5-liter Storm sack that is made of a much lighter weight material. Ended up being too small for my needs but I prefer the material of the Storm sack over this bag.Bought this for my girlfriend to go along with her kayak. I've been on the same dry bags myself for 10+ years. A few patches here and there for pinholes, I was very proud of my brand of bags... until I bought this one. Her bag is better than mine are by far. Thicker material, solid construction, we've splash tested this sucker plenty of times with no problems. I've got my two goto bags for my canoe and they will soon be replaced after using this one over the past summer.Highly recommended.I am only giving 4 stars cause i ordered the royal blue and they send me the red which looks kind of a pink. However its a very good bag....it looks like a military sausage bag but in a trendy way.....not very flattering the red kind of pink color for a guy...but as long as it does the job i am ok with it.Especially if you are travelling by bus you can place it between your legs when sitted....or in a crowded bus like the ones in Greece it doesnt take much space in front of you. It's very practical.Still i like the royal blue very much...I bought this before setting off to the States for a two month trip taking in the National Parks and Californian Beaches.I went wading along the Merced River, swimming in the Pacific Ocean, rafting on the Cache Le Poudre River and Colorado River as well as kayaking on the Saco River. Everywhere I went I took this bag with me, stuffed with a camp towel, DSLR, iPhone, wallet and change of clothes. Not once did the bag leak and it's still in perfect condition. It floats which is handy if it falls out of your raft, so it can be retrieved with ease. If submersed, it maintains its waterproof-ness.The bag came with a shoulder strap and a metal carabiner which was useful for securing the bag to my kayak. There was also some Silica Gel inside which presumably is to prevent condensation forming within the bag. I lost the silica gel pretty early on, but didn't find condensation to be an issue.I also used the bag as a pillow when on the beach, stuffed with a t-shirt and towel and with some air trapped in, it was very comfortable. All in all, a great purchase and I would recommend whole-heartedly. It's the perfect size too.We chose this item because it is waterproof, large enough for all we need to take to the beach (we are a couple in our early fifties with no children in tow but even with kids there would be ample room) It was easy to carry and no problem to clean after being dumped about on the beach. Typical contents was 2 bedrolls, 2 large beach towels, 2 inflatable pillows, suncream, food and drink for all day, beach shoes snorkel equipment and camera equipment..... still room left and hardly knew I was carrying it . Dont know how we managed without it.....Bought this bag to carry things to and from the beach and it does exactly as I expected.Comfortably carried Two wet suits (1 junior) and 2 towels and wet suit shoes to the beach and stored all our clothes whilst in the water keeping them sand free.Easily carried the towels and wet suits after we finished and although they were wet and heavy afterwards the shoulder strap was easily capable of carrying the weight. I would suggest adding some sort of comforter for the strap to stop it cutting in when heavy - something like a laptop strap has should be fine.Only used it twice so far but appears to be very durable and I would recommend to othersThis one is used as a nappy bag to hang from a child back carrier. It gets dirty, wet and muddy. Wash it's off and away you go. No real issues or complaints
